Sketching my next work, Blas de Lezo "PegLeg", came into this 
It turs that this awesome historical Spanish character, Admiral of the Spanish Empire Navy, was at a time one-eyed, one-legged and one-armed. And still managed to battle and win against the English vessels and pirates!
So, obvious reference in Kenpachi, with the eyepatch and one-arm style fighting!
